The new Montessori Mosaic blog is now online. The purpose of this blog is to share what I've learned and continue to learn about the Montessori teaching philosophy and hopefully get input and feedback from others who are doing the same. I'm open to discussing "all things Montessori" from the everyday ins and outs of running a classroom to materials making and philosophical nuances. Let's talk!
Thank you to those who bid on the mosaics that were recently available as part of the auction to raise funds for Geist Montessori Academy (GMA). The event was a big success and we were happy to be a part of it.
On March 14th Montessori Mosaics made its first public appearance at the Cincinnati Montessori Society's 2009 Annual Conference. We were greeted with great enthusiasm by everyone there and are very grateful for the warm reception.
A new mosaic design, the trinomial cube, that was customized for the event, was revealed in the form of a door prize. An enthusiastic "winner" took it home to adorn her wall. For more information about the society go to: http://www.cincinnatimontessorisociety.org/

This mosaic is the one that was created to fulfill an assignment in philosophy class during my training as a Montessori teacher. I never dreamed it would spark such interest. To learn more about the first mosaic go to About the First Mosaic
Since then, I have created others based on the Montessori philosophy. To see available images go to Designs & Pricing.
Note: Actual mosaics do Renot contain watermarks.
Purchasing a Mosaic
A photographic mosaic is an image that has been divided into equal sized sections, or tiles, each of which is replaced with another photograph of appropriate average color. When viewed as a whole the individual tiles appear as the primary image while close examination reveals that it is in fact made up of many hundreds or thousands of smaller images.
The tiles that comprise the larger picture are small photographs of Montessori lessons, like this one, and other meaningful images.
